Building gingerbread houses is a fun activity this time of year - delicious as well.

This is one of the most fun times of the year. It is also one of the most stressful times of the year as well. Trying to figure out what presents to get and then making sure that you can actually get the gifts that you want. Throw in your kids to the mix as well and you are trying to find the time to make it happen. Overall, the time of year is really fun, but it is going to be busy as well. Find time to enjoy it.

Building and decorating gingerbread houses is one of the many ways to really enjoy this time of year. While you can certainly build a gingerbread house at any time of the year, December is the most popular time to build them. There are often competitions between co-workers and family members to build the best house. However, you don’t have to participate in a contest to have fun building your own house.

This is one of our kids favorite activities this time of year. Not because we’re going to build the most spectacular house ever - we’ll leave that to the families without kids or with the older kids, at least. For those with younger kids, like us, spending a couple of hours putting frosting on houses, eating way too much candy, and trying to make our gingerbread resemble a house is simply an enjoyable experience.

This is not an activity we do often. It is one that takes a lot of work. However, it often leads to some of our favorite memories this time of year. This is one of those activities that you’ll have to do a bit of planning in advance for. You’ve got to make sure you have not only the gingerbread house, but also frosting and candy to put on the house. Some people like to decorate around the house as well - we often don’t make it that far.

If you’re ambitious, then you can bake your own gingerbread and design your own house. If you’re like the rest of us, a base gingerbread house is the way to go. This has all of the pieces already baked, and you just have to connect them all together and then decorate as you’d like. Kids don’t usually care if your house isn’t unique, and the base kits are excellent for building a house without too much work.

While most of these kits come with some candy and decorations, we’d recommend to get a few extras of your own as well. Buy simple candies that will connect to the house easily (big candy bars aren’t really a great option), and buy candies that you like as well. Building gingerbread houses is an excellent way for your kids to eat way too much candy, so buying some tasty stuff is always in order.

There should be one goal when doing gingerbread houses - have fun together. Whether or not you have a standing house at the end isn’t really that important. Your child will likely end up knocking the house down pretty quickly after it’s built in any case. Make something fun, and simply enjoy the time you have with your family.

Building gingerbread houses is a lot of fun. Take it easy, eat some candy, and have a good time with your family. It doesn’t have to be stressful, just have fun. Get your kit now.
