Cooked chicken breasts

If you want to impress your friends or neighbors with your cooking skills, baking chicken just to the right temperature and texture will do that. Baking chicken takes a bit of practice, but when you get it right, it’s delicious. It is one of the main reasons that I avoided baking chicken for years - it’s really tough to get right.

Fortunately, this recipe makes baking chicken much easier and more forgiving - if you cook it a bit too long, you can still have a delicious flavor. Additionally, this meal comes out looking really good, and goes really well as the food in a bigger dinner. For example, cook some rolls, and some frozen vegetables to go along with this chicken and you’ll have a meal that looks nice, tastes excellent, and is quite healthy.

My wife taught me how to make this after we were married, and for many years, it was my favorite food. The real key to this recipe is the mayo on the chicken - when it cooks, because of the eggs, it gives your chicken a unique flavor that you can’t really beat.

You only need 3 ingredients for this recipe, although if you’d like to add some additional spices, you can do so. You’ll need chicken breasts, mayonnaise, and a garlic clove per chicken breast.

Preparing baked mayo chicken

Chicken breast with garlic in it

Turn your oven on to 375 degrees. Slice your garlic clove into 2 or 3 pieces. Take your knife, and make cuts in your chicken to insert those sections of garlic into. Put the garlic inside the chicken, and then place your chicken on a baking sheet. Get a spoonful of mayonnaise, and spread it all over the chicken.

That’s all there is to it. You’re going to have to wait for your oven to warm up at this point, because there’s nothing else to do. Once the oven is ready, you’re going to let the chicken cook for about 45 minutes to an hour. You’re looking for the mayonnaise to start turning a golden brown to know that it’s ready (chicken needs to reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees F to be ready).

You don’t want to overcook it though as it will leave your chicken dry - it will taste fine when you pull it out of the oven and eat it right away, but it doesn’t taste as good the next day. Set a timer for 45 minutes to check on it. Pull it out of the oven, and enjoy.

My kids like me to slice their chicken up for them. I gave one idea of how to eat this chicken above, but there are so many different ways to eat it. I love eating it with salad, pasta, or rice. It matches really well with most any basic foods that you want.

Conclusion

This meal takes 5 minutes to prepare. If you need something you can quickly make and forget, then this is it. It’s simple and delicious. You’ll feel like a real chef, and all you need is 3 ingredients to do it.
